Capital Campaign Strategy & Support
For large organizations, a $1 million capital campaign might not seem like a big deal. But for the organizations I work with – executive directors who are also the only fundraiser on the team, all-volunteer groups, and nonprofits with limited resources – it’s often the biggest undertaking they’ve ever attempted.
When people think of capital campaigns, they often picture massive $10M+ projects with entire fundraising teams behind them. But let’s be real… I live in rural Wisconsin. Most campaigns here fall in the $1-$3M range and the organizations doing them often have no dedicated fundraising staff. Some don’t have any paid staff at all!
Because these campaigns are “smaller,” some people assume they’ll be simple. But I'd argue it's the opposite.
Raising over $1 million without a full development team isn’t easy. It takes strategy, structure, and a whole lot of confidence. And without the right support, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. That’s where I come in.
At LEAP Nonprofit Consulting, we specialize in guiding small organizations through capital campaigns, ensuring they not only meet their immediate fundraising goals, but also build the skills and systems they need for long-term success.
My Approach = Strategy + Support
Unlike some fundraising consultants, I don’t take over your campaign—I equip your team (even if they’re volunteers!) to lead it with confidence. Here’s what that looks like:
Training & Coaching – Your campaign committee will learn how to make asks, engage donors, and steward gifts effectively.
Relationship-Focused Fundraising – Donors should connect with your mission, not your consultant. I help you build lasting donor relationships that extend beyond the campaign.
Fundraising Infrastructure – I guide organizations in setting up donor databases, improving donor communications, and ensuring systems are in place to sustain fundraising efforts long after the campaign ends.
If your nonprofit is considering a capital campaign and you’re unsure where to start, let’s talk. You don’t need a big development team or a huge budget to raise transformational gifts – you just need the right strategy and support.
